the blog and addons

i used to send emails with links and pics to everybody i knew, the links and pics that i found whilst working or researching something - you never know where you land sometimes.
sending out all those emails with links and pics was getting tiresome - checking if the load was too big this that and the other so i decided to change the emails to a blog, let the others make the decision. so here it is wucinwug or trying to find the end of the internet and here are the plus and minus points to the addons that i have found or not found - on my way.
still looking for a good free image hosting site, www.photobucket.com/ looks kind of ok
and a good free commenting site to which i have found www.haloscan.com/ not bad, could be another one out there waiting for me.
wetter.com is fantastic, the ticker is in english, german, french and more, i dont think you need to speak german to configure it. let me know if im wrong.
http://feedburner.com/ is a really cool utility - u can use it amongst other things as your email signature too.
www.sitemeter.com is more than i had waited for from a counter, even the free version has a good overview of your statistics.
the N24 german news ticker was on my site in one minute and back off again in the same amount of time. what surprised me was that ticker (german) couldn't work with extended characters - strange.
the zdf german news ticker was up in no time at all and is still up - looks really good
the http://shortnews.stern.de/ german ticker took a while to find its place without shutting down any other tickers, the daily updated news won the fight over the not so updated f1 ticker - so goodbye f1 ticker - looking for a f1 statistics link to put f1 back on the blog.
the www.google.com/adsense took about 3 days til i got the ok
the google search engine just took time placing - still doesn't look quite right, might have to try and get it next to that zdf banner.
the worst headache off all was changing from two columns to three - but somehow managed it. probaly looks like a HTML nightmare but i'll get there one day - don't forget i only got started on this at the end of Feb' and i didn't have much of a clue what HTML was, never mind RSS, Atom or Java Script - having a template from blogger.com to mess around with does help, but i think i should have started messing around at the begining and not after i had posted for 3 weeks. still not sure in which direction to go concerning the language being a brit living in germany, this mixed version is what i would like to have though. one or the other wouldn't work and to have two is like hard work.
so the only thing left to say is which blogs i think are worth speaking of, well there are only a few, some parts NSFW - first one i ever read was Attu sees all and still is my first read. Then i came across Totally Flabbergasted and Coolio's ,the sites from the editors from Coolio's too. Growabrain was the next and then i stumbled upon a site whose author can speak about as much japanese as i can (correct me if im wrong) but visits the same site as i had A Welsh View - top of the british blogs. well deserved :-)
so all thats left to do is to get another (how many more) email account set up for you to tell me how much you hate my site - i luv u too :-) oh before i forget - it has now been 4 days since i asked to have a news ticker from the beeb - took me about 1 hour to find the link - must be a secret.
let you know the morrow if i hear any thing from mr bbc - give them time they have problems at the moment, as far as i know ...mr g
